Elaine Kunda

Founder & General Partner

Elaine is a successful CEO, with over 20 years of operating experience, and an extensive sales and marketing background. She has raised venture capital funding for multiple companies, built teams & had two exits. (ZipLocal sold to Canpages, b5media sold to Alloy Digital).

She has mentored & advised entrepreneurs for over 10 years,  and is active and connected in Canadian & US business communities. Elaine is an active member on 6 Boards, and is a Next 36 Mentor, CDL Mentor, Next AI Mentor. She is a founding Advisor/Creator of Girls (20), an organization that improves economic opportunities for women globally. She was also recognized as one of Microsoft Canada’s Top females in tech. 

Eugene Bomba

Partner

Eugene is a Canadian CPA, CA with a focus on venture-backed start-ups and early-stage tech companies. He was the CFO at ThoughtWire for 3 years where he led a large $20MM CAD debt & Series A financing. In addition, he was the CFO at Healthscreen Solutions for a 2-year period.

While at Healthscreen, he was directly involved in completing 2 rounds of financing and 3 acquisitions, a go-public transaction, and helping manage the growth and scale from under $2MM CAD in revenue to a run-rate of $20MM CAD in 2 years. Eugene Fast-tracked through PwC partnership in less than 10 years working career and was PwC Canada’s emerging tech (startup) leader from 13-15, 18-present. He unofficially acted as a Venture Partner for Fund I helping to scout and close 2 portfolio companies and will be directly involved as a partner for Fund II.

Sarah Shapiro

Principal

Sarah is a corporate finance lawyer turned venture capitalist with investing, legal & leadership experience. She is located in Montreal and involved in all aspects of DV’s operations including deal sourcing, diligence and investment monitoring.

She assists in various legal and operational requirements of the Fund and its Portfolio Companies. Sarah formerly worked as an investment associate and legal counsel at Otimo Retail, a family office whose evergreen fund focus is on technology and retail technology companies. Her passion for advancing women’s entrepreneurial success & helping create a more equitable & profitable environment for women in VC in Canada lead her to Disruption Ventures.

Relay Ventures  supports Disruption Ventures with back office, analyst support and has allocated $5 million for co-investment.
